OUR HISTORY

A family-owned business, Quality Printing and Graphics began in 1962 in the Graniteville home of Alvin Lunsford, who had studied graphic arts and presses at Temple University. His wife, Shirley, was the bookkeeper and managed the counter. Their primary customers were area churches.

In the 1970s, Al constructed a small building behind his house to accommodate the printing equipment. In 1981, the Lunsfords’ son, Vernon, joined the business full time, and they purchased a building on Ascauga Lake Road to open Graniteville Graphics. In 1989, space was leased in North Augusta near the current location. The family named the North Augusta business Quality Printing.

Vernon’s son, Eric, joined the company full time in 1997. In 1999, with a staff of about 11, the family merged the Graniteville business into the North Augusta Edgefield Road location and renamed it Quality Printing and Graphics. Along with the scope of services, the current location continued to expand with the addition of a sign shop and bindery/mail building.

Vernon’s daughters, Shanna and Kris, joined the business in 2005 and 2009. Shanna is Quality’s financial and account manager. She also handles the mail/merge function for direct mail. Kris manages the front office and human resources. Al retired in 2010.

Eric’s role includes quotes, proofs, quality control, running the full-color press and machine maintenance; half of each day is dedicated to production. Quality now has 21 employees, with most cross-trained for multiple tasks, including graphic design, signs, pressmen, finishing and mail room.
